IRAYA NOBLE
Iraya is a dance teacher and performer based in Edinburgh since 2009. Born in Uruguay and brought up in the Canary Islands, Iraya originally trained in Classical Ballet form an early age and later on in Contemporary Dance. Her dance training has been between Spain and the UK.
She is also in position of an Environmental Science degree, which she managed to combine with her dance studies. After finishing her degree she decided to move to the UK and work as a dance artist. Her interest in movement has led her to explore a variety of disciplines, such as Contact-improvisation, Physical Theatre, Shiatsu, Aikido, Capoeira, Flamenco and Egyptian dance.
In Edinburgh she has collaborated with LaNua Dance Company for their last project “Stones/Avanim” and with Nux Company for “Bottled memories” and is currently working in different dance projects in Scotland.She is also an Egyptian dance teacher for the City of Edinburgh Council and the Edinburgh University Persian Society and organizes her own classes and workshops.
Iraya has an especial interest in bringing together different dance disciplines to develop her own movement vocabulary, style and language. She also has interest in the concept of rhythm and in how the texture of different music styles can bring different qualities into movement.
